With some investors taking a break from the volatile equity markets, instead of putting cash into a bank deposit, some brokers advise that there may be some merit in casting you eye at the gilt market.While this tends to appeal to a relatively small group of investors the impending ratification of European Monetary Union could present opportunities and dangers if the euro project goes wrong. With EMU expected to come into being in 1999, investors in the gilt market should focus on gilts with a two to three year maturity, some analysts advise.
