CURRENT ACCOUNT: Glanbia will be pleased with its performance in Checkout magazine's latest survey of the Republic's top 100 grocery brands.

Its milk brands - Avonmore and Premier - took second and fourth places respectively in the top 10, ahead of global names like Pampers and Pepsi.

Another Irish company to feature strongly on the list was C&C. Would-be investors who missed out on the flotation when it was cancelled earlier this summer will be interested to see that three of its products - Tayto, Club and 7-up, which it manages, feature among the top grocery names in this country.

A young Irish brand to make the top 10 is Goodfella's pizza, now owned by British-based Northern Foods.

Taking 10th place, it ranks ahead of Dairygold in 12th place, while another Cork brand, Barry's Tea, is 16th on the list.

Kerry Group's Denny Gold Medal Sausages ranks in 20th place but the top slot overall goes to that ubiquitous global brand, Coca Cola.
