Mr Peter Goulandris, a non-executive director of Waterford Wedgwood since 1996, has been appointed non-executive deputy chairman.

Together with chairman Dr Tony O'Reilly - his brother-in-law - he now controls 199.08 million Waterford Wedgwood shares, or 27 per cent of the group, with a stock market value of €147 million (£116 million).
