Granada may buy Harry Ramsden

Fish 'n' chips and mushy peas may never be the same again

Fish 'n' chips and mushy peas may never be the same again. Harry Ramsden's, the world-famous chain of fish bars, may soon be bought by British leisure group Granada, which intends to merge the business with its motorway service stations. Harry Ramsden's operates outlets on the Naas Road outside Dublin, in Bray, Co Wicklow, and in Belfast and has taken space in the Liffey Valley and Jervis shopping centres in Dublin. A statement from the group said it was in talks which might lead to a bid at about 190p a share.
