Intel is the world's largest chip maker and manufacturer of personal computer, networking, and communications products. The company employs 3,500 people directly in the Republic and another 1,400 contractors.

In January, Intel announced fourth-quarter revenue of $8.7 billion (€8.9 billion), about the same as the previous period. The group has invested more than £2 billion in its Irish operations.
