HM Entertainment, the company founded by Harry Moore in 1943, has re-entered the retail electronics business now that its two-year agreement not to compete with Dixons on the retail front has expired.
Most of the stores in the Harry Moore chain were sold to Dixons in 1997. Since then, HM Entertainment has been operating in the television rental business from the old Harry Moore shop in Blackrock. But the company has now repurchased the original Harry Moore shop in Dawson Street and has invested £750,000 in both stores to accommodate the latest in audio video technology. Harry Moore himself has now retired, and the company is being run by Paul O'Rourke and Alan McLean, both of whom have acquired significant stakes in the business.
