Consumer network group One Big Switch has chosen Glohealth as the health insurance partner for its latest initiative.

One Big Switch operates by signing up large numbers of consumers to move service providers en masse. Its first campaign, launched in February, saw 64,000 people move to ESB-owned Electric Ireland.

The company recently ran a health insurance campaign and it is understood that it has chosen Glohealth as it was the only one of those providing cover in the Republic to respond to its approach with a proposal. None of the others submitted an offer.

Businessman Oliver Tattan brought One Big Switch to the Republic. He established an independent health insurer, Vivas, in 2004. The Aviva- owned Hibernian bought it out in 2008 and it is now part of the French multinational's Irish business.
