Medical device manufacturer Harmac Medical Products is creating 100 jobs in Co Roscommon, with the expansion of its existing facility there.

The US-based company will add the new roles over the next five years as it extends its Castlerea facility by 10,000 sq ft, bringing total employment at the operation to 282.

Harmac's Irish facility has won new and extended contracts to produce a range of products, prompting the new plans.

Harmac chief executive John Somers said the company's investment over the past 13 years had been a "great success".

"We are proud to announce this major expansion to support our current customers and provide capacity for significant new opportunities," he said.
