Eblana Photonics, a provider of laser products to the telecoms industry, has developed a new generation of high-power pump lasers for optical communications.

The lasers, based on technology that allows volume manufacture of high- performance laser components, should enable communication systems manufacturers to meet the demand for greater communications bandwidth.

Start-up firm Eblana Photonics emerged from a photonics advanced research programme at Trinity College, Dublin, in conjunction with the Irish National Microelectronic Research Centre.
