Holidaybreak, the UK activity travel group that sells Keycamp and Eurocamp holidays, is considering acquiring adventure centre sites in Ireland.
The group, which saw pretax profit plummet 77 per cent to £5.4 million (€5.9 million) in the year to September 30th, raised £31.2 million through a rights offer in July to expand its education travel division, PGL.
It is understood that the group may acquire two or three sites to be used as adventure centres for primary school tours. According to a company source, Ireland is an attractive location.
“Having a centre in Ireland would obviously be attractive for potential customers in Irish schools,” a company source said, “but it’s early days yet.”
