US FIRM SunGard has bought Dublin-based 365 Hosting Limited for an undisclosed sum, it was announced yesterday.
The Irish company, which provides cloud computing and data centre services, trades as Hosting 365. Its management welcomed the acquisition, saying the addition of SunGard’s solutions to its portfolio would benefit its customers. The firm, owned largely by former primary school teacher Stephen McCarron, began providing hosted services in 2001 and has two secure data centres in Dublin.
Keith Tilley, managing director for the UK and executive vice president for Europe for SunGard Availability Services, said: “Hosting 365 has built a superb business since its formation. The deal has major benefits for both parties: SunGard gains access to a new geographic market and proven cloud computing expertise, while Hosting 365 extends its product range with our own managed IT services, business continuity and disaster recovery solutions.”
Hosting 365 was advised by technology corporate finance house Atlanta International Partner and legal firm Maples and Calder.
