THE STEADY decline in house prices continued through the second quarter of this year, according to leading property website MyHome.ie.

Prices are down 40 per cent from their peak in 2006. In Dublin they have fallen 46 per cent from that level.

In the first quarter of the year, the average mix adjusted asking price for houses fell by 4 per cent nationally and 5.2 per cent in Dublin.

Based on average mix-adjusted asking prices, the average price for a home nationally is now €249,000. In Dublin the figure is €286,000. Prices are now down just under 8 per cent nationally.
