The Irish Brokers' Association is preparing for e-commerce delivery of insurance through the development of a new and enhanced website.
The association is also launching a service to assist members in setting up Internet sites.
Despite these measures, IBA chief executive, Mr Paul Carty, is sceptical about the impact the Internet will have on the way insurance is sold.
In the latest Irish Broker magazine editorial, Mr Carty says brokers will always be an important part of the insurance business because consumers will want access to sites offering many insurers rather than just one.
