The first three-dimensional (3D) newspaper advertising campaign in the Republic begins tomorrow with an IBM Ireland recruitment advertisement in the Business This Week supplement of The Irish Times. The advertisement - for telesales, engineering, telemarketing, technical and technical support staff - is also a 3D first for IBM worldwide and can be viewed through 3D glasses which will be issued with the newspaper.

Almost 400,000 pairs of 3D glasses will be supplied during the first week of the campaign, which will be supported by television advertising on RTE 1, Network 2, TV 3 and TG 4. The advertisement will appear in the Irish Independent next week. The campaign was devised by TMP Eureka.

IBM is expanding its Irish workforce and is seeking to add 1,800 staff to its operations here. This year it is focusing on telesales and e-business aspects of its operations. In 1999, IBM attracted 1,742 new staff and now employs 4,000.
