THE strength of international tele marketing is behind the decision of IDA Ireland to lodge planning permission for a new £10 million office block at Swords Business Park in Co Dublin.
Based on the size of the proposed office development, up to 1,500 people could be employed at the site, which is being specifically designed for a single back office operation.
According to the planning application, IDA Ireland will seek tenders shortly for a high specification 80,000 sq ft "international tele service data centre" which will be built at the south west corner of Swords Business Park, close to the main Belfast Dublin road. Construction is due to begin on a five acre site in the autumn and the office block should be completed by next spring.
An IDA Ireland spokesman confirmed that a planning application has been lodged for the development, which he said would be "the most advanced building of its type ever constructed in Ireland".
IDA Ireland is "very confident" that a major international client will be lined up to take possession of the complex "by the end of the year".
The existence of a similar albeit much smaller advance facility at Blanchardstown is understood to have been a critical factor in bringing the IBM venture to Dublin.
