Esat's position in the market: We aim to be the dominant number two player, taking on Telecom Eireann in all areas of the market.

Esat's unsuccessful bid for Cablelink: We took the view that if we got it, we got it, if we didn't, we didn't. It was another access point for us, while for the others it was an entry to market.

On Global Crossing building a high-capacity fibre cable to link into its infrastructure to Europe and the US: I think it is good for Ireland Inc and for carriers like us. There is no question but that Ireland has suffered from a perception that it has had a capacity problem - at least internationally.

Esat as a takeover target: Nobody is particularly knocking on our door.
