Lombard car finance package

The hire purchase car finance package from Lombard is an interest-only deal, not interest-free as stated in last week's Personal Finance InShort column.

Under the deal, customers repay only the interest due on the car for a period of up to 18 months. At the end of the interest-only period, customers must either repay the capital balance in one lump sum or pay it in instalments over a period of 12-36 months. The interest rate is 8.5 per cent APR.
