Irish music video website BalconyTV.com has been nominated for a prestigious Webby Award in the Best Viral Video Content category.

Like the Oscars the awards are judged by an academy, which includes David Bowie, Richard Branson and Simpsons creator Matt Groening. BalconyTV is also eligible to win a People's Voice Award - to be voted on http://pv.webbyawards.com.

Networking giant Cisco has introduced its TelePresence technology to Ireland. Cisco is styling TelePresence as a unified communications application and claims to have made it as simple to use as a traditional telephone. Prices for the systems begin at a cool $79,000 (€50,119).

Datapac €150,000 scholarship plan

Business technology provider Datapac is investing €150,000 in its work placement scholarship programme this year. The scheme is open to third-level students who receive work experience and financial assistance for their final or penultimate year of study.
