This weekAlthough the week gets off to a slow start on this side of the Atlantic, with Ireland and the Britain enjoying a long weekend, some interesting economic indicators are on the horizon later on in the week.
On Thursday, the Central Statistics Office will reveal whether the cost of living in Ireland continues its steady march upwards, when it releases the latest inflation figures. The second volume of the 2006 census on age and marital status will be published on Thursday and will no doubt be one of the main talking points this week.
A number of interesting company results are also due out this week. Drink and snacks group C&C release their preliminary results on Wednesday, while United Drug and Anglo Irish Bank will announce interim results on Wednesday and Thursday respectively.
The ECB group governing council will meet in Dublin on Thursday to decide on interest rates.
In London tomorrow, Gavin O'Reilly, chief operating officer of Independent News & Media, will be discussing the latest global trends in newspaper publishing at a World Association of Newspapers (WAN) event.
