Money raised from Revenue Commissioners investigations in 2001.€447 million has been recovered from financial institutions and individuals who held bogus non-resident accounts.

Banks and building societies paid €220 million to the Revenue, while some 3,675 account-holders paid €227 million under the voluntary disclosure scheme in respect of 8,380 accounts.

The investigation into unauthorised offshore investment products sold to customers of National Irish Bank yielded €33.4 million in 2001, bringing the total amount of monies recovered to €37.22 million.

The Ansbacher inquiry has yielded €17.3 million. Most of this is money lodged by some account-holders ahead of a settlement. Five cases have already been settled.
