Members of the Institute of Taxation now have an impressive little gizmo to show off to other tax practitioners at conferences. It's a membership card in CD Rom form, the size and shape of a business card.

The business card-shaped CD is easy to carry around in a wallet and when inserted into the CD drive of a computer, it opens on screen with a menu of useful information. The card contains the full text of Finance Act 2000, and the full text from Taxation Summary 2000/2001.

Mr Brian Keegan of the Institute said the CD card has been a great success. "We are the first general membership organisation in the world to use this kind of membership card and we have never done anything that has got such a huge response."
