Interactive Services, an Irish firm developing e- learning software for the telecommunications industry, has signed a multimillion pound licensing deal with Lucent and formed a strategic partnership with the firm.
The US giant has signed a three-year deal with Interactive Services for its software, which experts believe is worth $7 million to $10 million (€7.65 million to €10.92 million). This will enable 20,000 Lucent staff to study a range of interactive training packages provided by the Irish firm.
The Dublin-based firm has also formed an alliance with Lucent that will enable it to develop, host and market a range of e-learning courses covering Lucent Technologies' specific equipment.
The new initiative will complement Lucent's instructor-led training, with more than 100 e-learning courses being released this year.
Mr Garrett Byrne, chief executive of Interactive, said the deal would enable the firm to knock on the doors of Lucent's customers and would provide major selling opportunities.
The deal is one of the first announced by Interactive since it raised €10 million (£7.9 million) in venture capital funding in June. A number of major players in the telecoms and internet sector are also customers, including Quest and Sprint.
