As part of its drive to ensure the next generation is more financially literate than its predecessor, the Irish Banks' Information Service has brought out three more initiatives to follow up on its very successful Money Go Round video and fact sheets programme for primary and secondary students. Wallets containing £2,200 in specimen bank notes, as well as specimen cheques and bank transaction cards are being issued free to all l3,200 primary schools to be used with the earlier Money Go Round resource pack.

A website has been developed to provide money and banking information to the students: http://www.ibis.ie.

A new schools' liaison officer, Ms Deirdre Flanagan, has also been appointed to support students and teachers in their use of the IBIS money information programme. She has already visited 100 schools around the State. IBIS has spent more than £400,000 on these and other schools' initiatives in recent years.
