The Cork-based airline Jetmagic will add three new routes - Liverpool, Edinburgh and London City - to its service from next Monday.

Services from Cork on the Edinburgh and Liverpool routes will operate twice daily Monday to Friday. Services from Cork to London City will operate three times daily Monday to Friday. All three routes feature a morning flight in both directions as well as an evening return.

Each new route will also have one flight on Saturday and Sunday.

Aer Lingus will shortly end its service to London City airport, but Jetmagic believes the airport still has advantages because it leaves travellers closer to the centre of London.

Jetmagic chief executive Mr Patrick Raftery said: "We are delighted to be adding these important new routes to our service out of Cork. Our pre service launch statistics indicate an enormous level of interest in all three routes."

He indicated that the airline hoped to increase its staff numbers shortly.

"We currently employ 103 personnel and plan to recruit more staff in the near future. The reaction from our Cork and Munster customers continues to be extremely gratifying."

Jetmagic gave details of its services on February 6th this year. The new airline announced plans to operate routes from Cork to the UK and Continental Europe.

Jetmagic operates a fleet of Embraer 135 and 145 Regional Jets, equipped with Rolls-Royce engines and seating capacity for 37 and 49 customers respectively.

The airline, which is backed by a number of Cork-based investors, has raised private equity of more than €5 million, with options for further fundraising in the future. Among its shareholders is Mr Michael Foley, the former chief executive of Aer Lingus.

The airline offers an online check-in up to 20 minutes pre-departure and other technology driven features which it hopes will improve the travel experience for passengers.

The airline recently accused Aer Lingus of copying its services when the State-owned carrier announced several new services out of Cork, some overlapping with Jetmagic.
