Jurys Doyle Hotel Group will invest €90 million developing three new Jurys Inns in Glasgow, Leeds and Chelsea in London. These - together with Jurys Inn Newcastle which is under construction and expected to open in spring 2003 - will add almost 1,000 rooms to the group bedroom count of 6,145.
Jurys said the developments should be completed by spring 2004 and would be financed through internal resources and debt. The group now has 10 hotels in the UK.
The new 314-bedroom Glasgow Inn, on Jamaica Street, will cost about €37.9 million and will be completed by autumn 2003. It will have more than 13,000 sq ft of dedicated meeting room space.
The 216-bedroom Jurys Inn Leeds, on Brewery Wharf on a five-acre development comprising office, leisure and residential accommodation, will be completed in spring 2004 and will cost €29.3 million.
Jurys Inn Chelsea, planned for the Kings Road on a 32-acre site at Imperial Wharf, will also open in spring 2004. It will contain residential, commercial, retail, hotel and leisure facilities. Jurys is investing €22 million in the new inn.
Jurys Doyle chief executive Mr Pat McCann said there was scope for the group to expand its inns in the UK. "We will continue to seek out further development opportunities in prime city centre locations," he said.
Plans for Jurys Boston Hotel were on schedule and it would open in early 2004, he added. The group operates 32 hotels and inns in Ireland, Britain and the US, employing more than 4,000 people.
