Staff at ComputerScope Ltd, publisher of computer magazines PClive and ComputerScope, have been forced to accept a pay cut as a result of the tech downturn.
"Our space is IT and IT communication and with the tech downturn we are obviously very exposed. It's really just prudent management through a downturn," said Mr Frank Quinn, director of the company.
The company also has an online publishing business, Techcentral.ie, and runs the eXpo computer exhibition.
The 10 per cent pay cut at ComputerScope, which employs 27 people, took effect from August 1st.
An option to accept or reject the cut was not provided.
"It had to be done, but obviously we hope it's temporary," said Mr Quinn.
Cutbacks at technology companies have hit advertising budgets particularly hard, according to Mr Quinn.
"All the soft targets are trimmed back," he said. "We're in the same boat as just about every other advertising-dependent medium in the country."
Ireland is now experiencing the same problems as the US where the computer magazine market has already been badly affected by the tech downturn, according to Mr Quinn.
