Management appointments for Ryan Hotels and Conrad

Two women have been appointed to senior positions in the hotel industry

Two women have been appointed to senior positions in the hotel industry. The Conrad International has appointed Ms Doris Reynolds as sales manager. She will assume responsibility for conference, convention and leisure group business for the hotel.

She joins the Conrad from the Berkeley Court. She holds an honours diploma in business studies from the Smurfit Graduate Business School.

Meanwhile, the Ryan Hotels Group has appointed Ms Deborah Shingler as product development manager. Ms Shingler has worked in the hotel industry for more than 15 years. She helped launch the British chain, Hanover Hotels and Clubs, where she held the position of group marketing manager.

Ms Maeve Hogan, has been appointed financial controller by JBA Ireland, the financial software company. Ms Hogan joins JBA from Applied Materials Ireland. She previously worked with Price Waterhouse where she qualified as a chartered accountant in 1993.

Mr Fiachra O'Corey has been appointed as JBA's new business sales executive after leaving a position with Sysco Limited. He will have responsibility for sales of the company's System 21, financial, distribution and manufacturing software package.

The Institute of Certified Public Accountants has appointed Mr Michael Kavanagh as a practice review executive.

Mr Kavanagh will be responsible for reviewing and monitoring certified public accountants in practice. He will maintain quality control and provide training and advice to all certified accountants in the area of auditing, accounting and taxation.

Wine importer, Gilbeys, has made three appointments in its wine division. Mr Jim Farrelly as marketing manager will take overall responsibility for Gilbeys wine strategy and brands like Blossom Hill, Lindemans, Santa Rita, Navarro Correas, Laurent Perrier and Jamieson's Run.

Mr Fergal Downey takes on the new position of wine brand manager, while Mr Martin Moran has become wine development manager, and will update the company's wine portfolio.

The Republic's largest charter airline, TransAer, has appointed Mr Willie O'Byrne as deputy chief executive.

He joins the company from Irish Distillers Group where he held senior management positions in the technical and financial departments.

The Irish Music Rights Organisation (IMRO) has elected Mr Shay Hennessy as its new chairman and Mr Mike Hanarahan as deputy chairman. Mr Hennessy, a music publisher, succeeds Mr Brendan Graham who has held the position as chairman for the past nine years.

Mr Hanarahan is songwriter director of IMRO and former lead singer with the group Stocktons Wing.

Ryan Glennon and Company, chartered accountants, has appointed Mr Brian T Hyland a partner in the practice. He joined the firm as a manager in 1994.
