Frankfurt DAX: 5257.58 (+71.35)
German shares ended Xetra DAX after-hours electronic trading just shy of the day's highs. Equities shrugged off losses following lower-than-expected US employment data and appeared untroubled by the weaker dollar. The Xetra DAX ended up 2.05 per cent or 105.72 points, at 5270.61.
Paris CAC-40: 3,906.36 (-41.09)
Shares veered down in a fairly thin, choppy pre-holiday market, resuming a consolidating path after news of Chrysler's merger with Daimler diverted the trend on Wednesday, brokers said.
Milan Mibtel: 24,015 (+498)
Italian shares closed higher, lifted by gains in US stocks on Wall Street and by a rally in banking shares.
