French shares ended slightly higher after spending most of the day in the red on profit taking after a big rise on Thursday on unexpected interest rate cuts.
The August account, which closed yesterday, showed a respectable 66.72 point again over the July account, the worst since September, 1995.

Shares ended above the lows after a choppy session, with investors taking heart from a surprise cut in prime rate announced in mid afternoon by a major bank.
