Worries about Europe's single currency plans and weak signals from the US and Japan dragged German shares off all-time highs on Friday, but dealers said the market was poised to gain.

French shares closed with a sharp loss on Friday, hit by a further 55 point fall in the Dow Jones Industrial Index on Wall Street and profit-taking on the expiry of February futures, dealers said.
