Global media and digital communications group Aegis has acquired Lucidity Digital, an Irish web design and development agency founded in 2003, for an undisclosed sum.

Aegis, a listed company with shares trading on the London Stock Exchange, is the owner of advertising agencies Carat and Vizeum, which also operate in Ireland. Aegis said the purchase of Lucidity would strengthen its digital media operations in Ireland.

Lucidity will become subsumed into the Aegis creative network Isobar, and will be rebranded Lucidity Isobar.

Lucidity’s co-founder Jim Cassidy said the firm was “delighted” to be joining Aegis. “This transaction will allow us to really scale our business in terms of both service offering and client base.”

Aegis Group, which employs 12,000 people, also owns Aztec, a scan-based market and consumer insights company.

Aegis closed down 20p at 235.6p in London yesterday.
