Investigative journalist Donal MacIntyre is to "go back to his roots" and "put himself in jeopardy" in a new series commissioned by TV3.
The series will feature MacIntyre "putting himself places where we wouldn't put ourselves", says TV3's director of content Jeff Ford. The journalist will make an initial eight to 10 investigative programmes for the broadcaster, with the shows due to go on air next year.
MacIntyre previously made a crime documentary for TV3, while last year he also presented Print and Be Damned , a four-part series about the Irish newspaper industry. His back catalogue of television journalism includes the series MacIntyre Undercover for the BBC, while he has also participated in celebrity contests Dancing on Ice on ITV and Channel 4's The Jump .
Lengthening TV3's list of "recognisable faces" is one of Ford's priorities, he says, citing recent hires Lucy Kennedy, who co-presents Late Lunch Live with Martin King, as well as quizmasters Jonathan McCrea and Seán Moncrieff.
