Eamon Dunphy’s media company reports profit of €150,000

The media firm owned by pundit Eamon Dunphy reported profits of over €150,000 last year, according to accounts just filed to the Companies Registration Office (CRO).

Festuca Ltd was established in 2013 to replace Mac Consultants Ltd as the corporate vehicle for Mr Dunphy's media work, and has averaged €3,000 a week since started.

Mac Consultants Ltd was voluntarily wound up last year, at which time the company had over €500,000 in the bank.

The latest accounts show that Festuca Ltd made a profit of €150,587 in its first year of trading.

The 69-year-old journalist is the sole shareholder in the firm, while his son Tim is also listed as a director.

The company had debtors of €33,129 and creditors of €36,155 at the end of its financial year on 31st August 2014, according to the accounts. Its creditors included corporation tax of €21,566.

CRO documents list the firm’s main activity as journalistic services. In addition to his work as a soccer pundit on RTE, Mr Dunphy also writes newspaper columns on sports and politics.

He published an autobiography, titled The Rocky Road, in October 2013.
