The European Broadcast Union in partnership with RTÉ is hosting its first Online Media Summit in Dublin’s Digital Hub this Thursday.
The event has been organised “against a backdrop of unprecedented change in the media industry” and will include keynote speeches by Google executive Andy Thoms and New York University professor of journalism Jay Rosen. The EBU, of which RTÉ is a member, is an alliance of 73 public service media organisations from 56 countries and is best known for being the producer of the Eurovision Song Contest.
Múirne Laffan, managing director of RTÉ Digital, said media organisations were obliged to make cultural shifts to keep pace with technological change and that the EBU event would both “showcase success stories” and “discuss the intrinsic challenges of media innovation”.
