Digital TV and broadband company UPC continued to grow strongly in the second quarter of the year, new figures published today show.

The company added 26,200 subscribers, bringing its total number to 945,200 – an increase of 14 per cent on last year.

Figures published show the firm experienced a 25 per cent year-on-year increase in broadband subscriptions, with the total number rising to 283,400.

Year-on-year growth in phone subscriptions increased by 69 per cent to 205,800 according to the company which is owned by Liberty Global.

UPC Ireland offers digital TV, broadband and fixed-line telephone services to customers. The company has invested €500 million over the past six years in its next generation broadband network, according to chief executive Dana Strong.

In May, the company launched On Demand TV, its new digital entertainment hub.The servcie is being rolled out around the country on a phased basis.
