The Minister of State for Science, Technology and Commerce, Mr Treacy, launched a new millennium bug-related product this week in conjunction with Y2K Action Week. Compliance Programme 2000 (CP 2000) has been developed to address the business, legal and IT issues surrounding Y2K compliance. During Y2K Action Week - from February 1st to February 7th - CP 2000 will launch a suite of Y2K recovery products via a series of road shows and workshops throughout the Republic. CP 2000 says this will coincide with the launch of a software package dealing specifically with embedded systems.
Speaking at the launch in the Law Society of Ireland, Mr Fergus Lowndes, managing director of CP 2000 said: "It is very likely that Y2K related problems will give rise to legal actions. Every director should take appropriate steps to deal with the millennium bug; failure to do so could render a director personally liable for resulting losses."
The Y2K Action Week roadshows are aimed at companies and intermediaries, and will be free. Details about them and about training workshops are available at 1850 200 444.
