Irish employees of hi-tech firm 3Com will be able to spend more time working from home through the firm's second teleworking scheme. The scheme will offer some employees in the 3Com sales team the opportunity of installing communications technology in the home. Users can opt for a 3Com OfficeConnect ISDN or dual 56K LAN modem to access the office network directly and/or connect to a local Internet service provider.
"People are coming to realise that what we traditionally call `the office' is just a set of services and communications," said Mr Jim McGovern, country manager for 3Com Ireland and Scotland. 3Com's original teleworking scheme is already in place for a 10-person research and development facility in the Connemara Gaeltacht.
