Education: Left Synge Street in 1968 and joined a junior management training programme with Aer Lingus. Went to University College Dublin at night, 1970 to 1974, and gained an honours B.Comm. Then went on to take a degree in accountancy. Qualified December 1978.
Business career: Transferred to Parc in 1983 as acting financial controller for three months, never left. Appointed chief executive in January of this year.
Family: Married to Frances O'Donnell. They have three children, Sinead (20), Rory (18) and Grainne (15).
Hobbies: Reading history, playing golf, escaping to a small house in Donegal.
Why he's in the news: Parc is due to float later this year; his shareholding in the company is likely to be valued at approximately £4.5 million.
