This Week: Overview - Markets will be extremely nervous this week as the deadline looms for executives of top US corporations to certify the accuracy of their company's financial statements.
As the black hole in WorldCom grows ever larger, the markets will be wary of any late revelations before Wednesday's deadline.
Chief executives and financial chiefs at the companies with more than $1.2 billion in revenue last year have to swear under oath in writing that the numbers in their companies' recent financial reports are correct.
The requirement affects 947 companies, most of which file by Wednesday.
Separately, the US Federal Reserve's Open Market Committee meets on interest rates tomorrow. While no immediate change is expected , there is a growing feeling that the US central bank will change its bias to one favouring a fall rather than a rise in interest rates ahead.
On the home front, there will also be some attention paid to inflation figures out today for July. Ireland's rate is currently double the euro-zone average
