Dungannon Meats is to invest £3.5 million sterling to expand production of a range of prepacked consumer meat products supplied to major British retailers such as Sainsbury.

The IDB contributed £1 million towards the investment, which will double the size of the existing retail packs factory. Employment will not increase significantly in the short term.

Dungannon Meats marketing director, Mr Jim Dobson said the investment strengthened the firm's position "as a major UK supplier of quality and traceable pre-packed consumer meat products". The company employs a total of 450 people and is the North's largest red meat processor.
