A NEW mobile phone shop which opened on Grafton Street, Dublin yesterday, is hoping to sell an average of 400 phones a month. The shop, the first Irish outlet of a successful British chain, is expecting sales to grow further following the inception of Esat. Prices range between £44.99 and £1,000.

Carphone Warehouse, a British company established in 1989, has 71 outlets in Britain and plans for 100 by the end of this year. Originally established to sell earphones, only a small percentage of its business is now take up with such sales.

The company has plans for a further two outlets in Dublin within the next six months, and eventually for a regional network of shops.
