Nice flight, shame about the corpse in executive class

RELAXATION while travelling - or the lack of it - can influence the outcome of a business trip, a truism highlighted in a survey released this week of more that 1,000 European frequent business travellers conducted by credit card company Visa International. The survey found that the sample group spent 52 hours a month, or a third of their working life, on the move for work related reasons. Business pressures have increased and most spent their travelling time working instead of relaxing in preparation for that crucial meeting. For some the concentration needed to absorb vital documentation was not helped by irritating distractions. One respondent had the misfortune to witness the murder of four diners at an Egyptian hotel. Another spoke of being on a transAtlantic flight full of Frank Bruno supporters drinking and fighting in the aisles. One company director had a stretcher patient next to him die during the flight. The business traveller who only has to negotiate peak hour bumper to bumper traffic on the Merrion Road is indeed fortunate.
