The value of the State's imports from non-EU countries in July was £1.1 billion (€1.4 billion), according to figures released by the Central Statistics Office yesterday. This figure was 17 per cent higher than in July 1998. The value of exports was £1.7 billion, 28 per cent higher than last year.
