AT a breakfast presentation in Belfast The Irish Times has invited business leaders to consider the market in the Republic for their goods and services. The breakfast was attended by over 70 people from a wide range of business sectors.
The 1996 European Business Readership survey showed that The Irish Times is the most widely read and is considered to be the most important reading material for senior business people in Ireland, Irish Times Publications director Ms Maeve Donovan told guests.
Some 85 per cent of the top executives surveyed took The Irish Times and 41 per cent considered it important reading material, she said.
Ulster Marketing Surveys managing director Mr Richard Moore welcomed the invitation to Northern businesses to target markets in the Republic. It was the first time Northern business people have been urged by anyone from the Republic to sell in to their market, he said.
Mr Howard Hastings, the managing director of the Hasting Hotels Group, a leading investor from Northern Ireland in the Republic, said he was very happy with the development of his company's new hotel in Merrion Street in Dublin.
