Pension fund inefficiency costs schemes millions of pounds a year, according to employee benefits consultant Mr Tom Geraghty of Mercer. At a Society of Actuaries in Ireland seminar on the security of pension funds in Dublin yesterday, Mr Geraghty put the cost at 50 basis points per annum. Mr Geraghty said trustees had to become more demanding and questioning of all their professional advisers.
