The Institute of Certified Public Accountants in Ireland (CPA) has appointed Mr Martin Regan, GDBA, BA, as director of information technology. A graduate of the University of Limerick, he joins the institute from FAS where he was a trainer in information technology.

Ernst & Young has appointed two new partners. They are Ms Maire O'Connor and Mr Dargan FitzGerald. Ms O'Connor who joined Ernst & Young in December as a partner in the Financial Services Group, is the first female partner in the firm.

Mr Stuart Kelly has been appointed vice-president, marketing and investment, for Irish-owned Openet Telecom, which recently announced a venture capital investment which values the company at $27 million. Mr Kelly has worked in Silicon Valley for the last eight years. Openet specialises in Internet Protocol mediation software for telecoms companies and Internet Service Providers.
