Poland's economy is forecast to grow by about 4 per cent this year, faster than some economists predicted a few months ago when the outlook was overshadowed by the Russian crisis, according to the finance ministry, the central bank and two leading research institutes which published reports last week.

The figure is short of the 5.2 per cent target originally set by the government but it is well above the lowest forecasts made by private sector economists during the difficult winter quarter when predicted annual growth rates dropped as low as 1.5 per cent.
