Poultry firm in £3.8m growth

THE Coleraine based company, Farm Fed Chickens, is investing £3

THE Coleraine based company, Farm Fed Chickens, is investing £3.8 million sterling to expand its business in Britain and to develop new value added products.

The investment is expected to lead to 56 new jobs over the next three years. Farm Fed Chickens already employs 316 people in Coleraine producing fresh, frozen and processed poultry products.

The company has identified opportunities to supply multiple retail groups in Britain and has won a order for chicken products from Sainsbury. Farm Fed managing director Mr Robin Henry said the investment represented a radical shift by the company from being production led to one which was largely market driven.

Farm Fed is a totally integrated poultry processing company with its own hatching and rearing operations. Subsidiaries include Farm Crest in Craigavon, Carnview Hatcheries and Livestock Services. Some 440 people are employed.
