Boparan makes offer for Northern Foods

Shareholders in Northern Foods yesterday received an offer document from Boparan Holdings detailing its £342 million (€400 million) bid for Northern Foods.

The privately-held company’s 73 pence a share cash offer for the company has been accepted by the board of Northern Foods.

The posting of the offer document now means that Greencore has 46 days in which to present a revised bid for the company.

While shareholders in Northern Foods have until March 2nd to respond to the offer, Boparan may reach the 75 per cent threshold before this date. Conversely, if Boparan does not reach the threshold by March 2nd, an application may be made to the Takeover Panel to extend the deadline.
