Irish firm FundSME.ie to set up operation in Jamaica

Small and medium-sized business finance specialist in partnership with Digicel

An Irish company that specialises is aiding small and medium-sized businesses in raising funds has opened an office in Jamaica as a first step in its international expansion.

Dublin-based FundSME.ie has opened an office in Kingston, Jamaica, where it has joined forces with Denis O'Brien's Digicel Business, to serve the island's small and medium-sized enterprise market.

FundSME.ie has helped hundreds of Irish businesses raise €20 million from traditional and alternative financiers that were best suited to their needs.

The company's chief executive, Nollaig Fahy, said the company was eager to begin working with Digicel.

"We began building our business model in Ireland with the intention of expanding into other regions outside Ireland to serve new markets," she said.

Digicel Jamaica chief executive David Butler said that the company had two million customers interested in setting up or expanding their businesses.
